Emma is a current MA student at the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies and a recent graduate of McGill’s BA: Drama and Theatre Program. She is interested in musical theatre, LGBTQ+ theatre, concepts of “entertainment” and “art,” and theatre fandom (how theatre fans use online spaces to engage with work and with each other). A special interest of hers is how fans use theatre to cope with mental illness.
From 2016 to 2019, Emma worked in the Communications Department at Montreal’s Segal Centre for Performing Arts, where she worked to help attract younger audiences to the theatre and co-founded the Class Act Program for theatregoers under 30. She also managed the Cote Saint-Luc Senior Summerworks Program, a community theatre initiative for senior citizens, for three years. In her free time, you can find her buying rush tickets to musicals that she has already seen far too many times and talking about Broadway shows on Twitter.
