Alumni Show: 365 Days/365 Plays
When and Where
Description
Sunface Collective with the support of EJ3Arts and CDTPS presents our production of 365 Days/365 Plays by Suzan-Lori Parks. On the 13th November 2002, Parks decided to write a play every day for the rest of the year and that collection of plays became 365 Days/365 Plays. She was responding to her realities of the day as a Black woman in America in 2002; war in Iraq, 9/11, a country where the bones of slavery lives and racism is rampant. These events and their impact still seep into our time and place, where inherited tragedies influence fresh and new ones. Our production seeks to engage in ideas of war, collective grief, absurdity, anxiety, a rejection of certainty, and maybe the most radical of all…hope.
Will we stage all 365 plays? No, though what a fun idea. Parks allows artists to choose as many plays as we want in any order with the caveat that we must include three plays: The three Constants. We have chosen 30 plays and cannot wait for you to engage with them. This show is non-linear, maximalist, political, absurd, hilarious, and very interested in experimenting with movement and sound.
365 Days/365 Plays (One-Act) is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
There will be four performances between April 23 to 25, 2026.
