Description

You're invited to Lone Island Lovers - A Staged Reading.

Synopsis

Lone Island Lovers is a play written by Mick Robertson and developed by the ‘Friends from Highschool’ performance collective. Lone Island Lovers explores the maternal lineage of submissive behavior in romantic relationships. Our protagonist Lady lives in a world where everyone has their own Island. With water on every side, Lady’s opportunities just go on forever; or at least that’s what her Mom says. Lady’s island is neighboured by her Mom’s, her best friend’s and her boyfriend’s. Lady and Her boyfriend are building a land bridge to connect their Islands so that they can finally be together. They are in a caring yet stagnant state, until Lady is hit by a love bomb… by someone else.

Originally written and workshopped in the Fall of 2018, Lone Island Lovers was performed at the University of Toronto Drama Festival, where it was honored with numerous awards including Best Production.

This staged reading is of the second rendition of Lone Island Lovers, which has been workshopped over the summer of 2019. In this workshop, the team asks that audience members help further the script by providing audience feedback.

‘Friends from Highschool’ would like to thank all of the workshop participants for lending their efforts and talents, and the CDTPS for facilitating this event.

This event is FREE and no RSVP is required.

Please contact event organizer Micaela Robertson if you have any questions.
